The old Kempen farmhouse is located on a historic craft site in Turnhout: a surviving farmstead from a series of yarn and linen bleaching workshops built along the Aa. The pure water, sourced from the heathland fens, made the area ideal for this industry.

The farmhouse has been fully restored and converted into a holiday home.

With respect for the existing architecture and Flemish craftsmanship, historic elements were preserved and local materials were used throughout the restoration. The rear façade was redesigned with open views towards the landscape and fitted with shutters to allow for flexible privacy.
